Plant lighting systems can selectively intervene in the metabolic processes of agricultural
and ornamental crops using a variety of different wavelengths
and intensity of light,
and control yield, color, mouthfeel,
and other characteristics. Recent studies have shown that the metabolic processes of plants are not only affected by photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) in the range of 400-700 nanometers (nm), but shorter and longer wavelengths also affect plant growth and development.
